Child Abuse Prevention

5 Simple Ways to

Prevent Child Abuse

  1. Be a nurturing, loving, patient parent. Tell your children often that they are loved and valued. Never use violence.

  2. Reach out to neighbors and friends with children. Sometimes parents just need a sympathetic ear to help them feel they are not alone.

  3. Be patient with crying infants.  NEVER shake a baby. Step away and practice relaxation techniques before you pick up your crying infant again if you feel yourself getting stressed out.

  4. Educate yourself and your community about child abuse.  Arrange for a child abuse prevention speaker to attend your next HOA or PTA meeting.

  5. Report suspected abuse at 1-800-4-A-CHILD
