Child Abuse Prevention
5 Simple Ways to
Prevent Child Abuse
-
Be a nurturing, loving, patient parent. Tell your children often that they are loved and valued. Never use violence.
-
Reach out to neighbors and friends with children. Sometimes parents just need a sympathetic ear to help them feel they are not alone.
-
Be patient with crying infants. NEVER shake a baby. Step away and practice relaxation techniques before you pick up your crying infant again if you feel yourself getting stressed out.
-
Educate yourself and your community about child abuse. Arrange for a child abuse prevention speaker to attend your next HOA or PTA meeting.
-
Report suspected abuse at 1-800-4-A-CHILD
